Summary

Despite its compact 48 × 48 mm size, model C1A achieves a high accuracy of ±0.1 % rdg. for sensor input signals (from a thermocouple or resistance temperature detector) and high-speed response control with a sampling cycle of 25 ms.
Model C1A contributes to improved stability and reproducibility of control processes and facilitates the adjustment of PID parameter settings for high-speed response control targets in applications such as pressure and flow control.

PLC link communication

Generally speaking, to enable a digital indicating controller to communicate with a host system, a program for communication must be designed on the host system. Model C1A provides a PLC link communication function that enables data communication without the need to create a communication program.
Communication can easily be enabled by selecting a supported protocol and communication items in Smart Loader Package, which reduces program design and debugging workloads for architects.

Smart Loader Package

The Smart Loader Package enables you to change various C1A settings, such as parameters, monitoring, and calibration, on your PC. The Smart Loader Package can be downloaded for free from our website.
Model C1A can be powered by a USB cable, and its parameters can be read and written when it is powered from a PC.

PID simulator

The PID simulator is a built-in function of the Smart Loader Package that helps you to adjust PID values.
It creates a mathematical model that recreates process characteristics from operating data, thereby enabling simulations of PID control on a PC. This enables you to adjust the PID values without repeatedly operating the actual equipment, significantly reducing the man-hours required for adjustment. The screen shows process variations for intuitive adjustment.
The simulator aids overshooting and hunting reduction work. It helps you reduce the time required for trial run adjustment and improve the takt time and quality of equipment.

Summary

For use with semiconductor-manufacturing and food-processing equipment, among others, we have developed new controllers, model C7G/C7S, that maintains a consistent temperature within a loop. In spite of its compact frame, the C7G/C7S control as many as four systems simultaneously. For superior usability, the display unit is separable from the main unit and features a touch panel color LCD for ease of use and high visibility.

In addition, we have developed a health index function that uses sensing data and control signal (M.V.) amplitude to quantify changes in control loop behavior. This provides advance warning of equipment problems, allowing timely preventative maintenance.

Compact data storage (CDS)

Compact data storage is Azbil’s new technology for effective data recording. It can record necessary data at fixed intervals and also record just the required pieces of data, thus allowing controllers to achieve data processing and management at FA control layer.

Process diagnosis (Health index function)

Loop characteristics are quantified using process data for control. Loop soundness is monitored to detect status changes. Quantified data is provided for edge computing that in turn contributes to promotion of IoT services.

By comparing the maximum amount of process change in a transient response (delta PV_max) and the same value for the model installed in the controller (delta PVm_max) , the value of “Process gain (Kp) ÷ time constant (Tp)” is calculated as the health index (control loop quality). The health index is calculated while CDS is activated, and is then stored on the microSD memory card. (Depending on processing conditions, calculation may sometimes not be possible.)

Equipped with Ethernet Modbus™ or TCP communication as a standard feature, these modules enable multi-loop cooperative control and other types of advanced control technology and networking.
