As global emissions regulations tighten, ships are increasingly using LNG fuel. In LNG fuel tanks, some LNG vaporizes into boil-off gas (BOG). Even with insulation, LNG carriers experience BOG due to external heat. To minimize environmental impact, ships must burn and safely dispose of this gas.

GCU(Gas Combustion Unit)

SAACKE developed the GCU (Gas Combustion Unit) to safely and reliably transport LNG at sea. It uses excess boil-off gas to generate heat while ensuring maximum availability. The GCU integrates an SSB series burner with an air-cooled steel combustion chamber. Its compact design allows installation within the ship’s funnel, saving space. Equipped with energy-saving fans, it ignites with oil or gas and reaches full load within minutes.
