Bearings connect the rotating shaft to its support and allow smooth movement.
Friction always occurs between the rotating “axis” and the part that supports the rotation.
The primary role of bearings is to reduce friction and ensure smooth rotation.

Bearing types

We classify bearings into two main types: plain bearings and rolling bearings.
Plain bearings support a shaft on a sliding surface. As the shaft moves, a thin oil film forms between the shaft and bearing, reducing friction. These bearings resist vibration and perform well under high speeds and impact loads.
In contrast, rolling bearings use balls or rollers placed between an inner and outer ring. There are two types: ball bearings, which use balls, and roller bearings, which use rollers.
Among them, deep groove ball bearings are the most common worldwide. Manufacturers prefer them because they are simple, durable, and easy to produce.

Open type (OP)

Both sides of the bearing are open, so it is sometimes called an open type.
It is a common open type deep groove ball bearing and can be used for a variety of purposes.
