Description
The MDR (Preset) Series is a 4 or 6 digits, Single or Dual level bi-directional preset counter in a DIN 72 x 144 panel size (Panel Cut-out size: 68 x 140mm). It has a RED LED display with a digit figure size of 14.22 x 8.13mm. This is a very simple counter but highly reliable. This counter has a high count speed of 5kHz maximum and can accept Contact or Non-Contact pulse input. The counter offers two modes: Add/Subtract or Quadrature. It comes with a built-in contact relay and an NPN Open collector. When the counter hits the preset value, this setup sends out an output signal. Preset value can easily be set via the front panel digital switches and there are LED indicators that show the state of the unit. The MDR (Preset) Series allows you to choose between two power sources: AC100/110V or AC200/220V. Additionally, it provides an external power supply of DC12V specifically for sensors. When it comes to resetting the unit, you have the option to do it remotely or through an auto-reset function. Memory is also available for count value retention even during power loss.

Rear Terminals and Wiring
NOTE:
- For 1 level preset models (MDR-144M and MDR-166M), refer to Output 2 in the diagram as the main output.
- Both terminals 12 and 13 are GND. The terminal 13 can be used in replacement of terminal 12 as described in the connection diagrams below.
Connection
Caution
- Avoid sending a voltage signal to the Contact Input and Remote Reset terminals to prevent internal damage.
- Choose either Contact or Non-contact input; you can’t use both at the same time.
- If there’s a power failure, the LED display turns off, and the counter won’t recognize inputs or resets.
- Connect terminals 11 and 12 to activate the memory feature. If you’re turning off the counter for a while, disconnect these terminals to save the internal battery, which charges when the counter is powered on.
- You can’t input signals to both Add and Subtract inputs at the same time.
- For the Input and Reset terminals, use shielded leadwires. Also, keep power source lines away from Input and Reset lines for optimal performance.
Operating Mode
Application
Product Counting
Counters can be used for counting, sorting and packaging various products.
Cut-to-length operation
Counters and CT1/CS pulse generators can be used for cut-to-length operation for textiles, paper, plastic films and so on.
Length Measuring
Counters and rotary encoders can be used for measuring the length of textiles, paper, plastic film and so on.
