Supplies clean air into the mask through a hose

Supplied-Air Respiratory Protective Equipment

A supplied-air respirator (airline mask) is a system of respiratory protective equipment that supplies clean air to the wearer through a hose. There are types that use an air compressor or blower as an air source, and there are also types that rely on the wearer’s own lung suction power. By correctly selecting the appropriate type from various supplied-air respirators, the equipment can be used in:

  • “Oxygen-deficient environments”
  • “Environments generating high concentrations of toxic substances”
  • “Environments generating highly toxic substances”

Please accurately assess the working environment and use a supplied-air respirator with the appropriate performance specifications.

Pressure Demand Type Airline Mask

Possesses high protection performance

The pressure demand type maintains positive pressure inside the mask. Even if there is a gap at the face-to-mask seal, air will blow out from inside the mask to the outside, making it difficult for outside air to enter.

The pressure demand type airline mask is structured to supply the necessary amount of air according to the breathing rhythm, while maintaining positive pressure (pressure higher than ambient air) inside the mask regardless of whether inhaling or exhaling. Therefore, in the worst-case scenario where a gap occurs between the mask and the face, air will blow out from inside the mask, helping to prevent the ingress of outside air and allowing for safer work.

Focus on safety Pressure Demand Type

Even if a gap appears in the face contact area, air will blow out forcefully from there, helping to prevent the ingress of oxygen-deficient air, toxic gases, and harmful dust.

● Air supplied by the pressure demand valve maintains a positive pressure state inside the mask thanks to a balance spring at the exhalation valve unit.

Examples of supplied-air respirator applications

A mask that easily and snugly fits the face

High Scope V mask with HAWC lip structure

The product applies the “HAWC lip※” technology with a flexible, wide, and specially curved face contact shape that creates a “suction cup effect” to enhance the seal. This ensures high airtightness, a wide field of vision, and lightweight design.

※Abbreviation for High Adaptable Wide Concave (The company’s proprietary face contact structure).

The HAWC lip face contact area fits snugly to the face like a suction cup.

List of Types

For Sakai-type supplied-air respirators, please confirm the working environment, equipment, and number of users in advance to select the most suitable product for the workplace.

Compressed Air Supply (Using equipment such as an air compressor)

Airline Mask

The system is divided into 3 main groups:

1. Pressure Demand Type

  • Features: Used for work in environments requiring high airtightness.
  • Style: Facepiece Type.
  • Example: Model 17HVG-ZW, etc.

2. Demand Type

Features: A type that supplies only the necessary amount of air to the wearer.

3. Constant Flow Type

Features: Used for continuous work over a long period within a fixed range.
Classification by style:

A. Facepiece Type

  • Portable filter type: e.g., Model 12HV-Y, etc.
  • Fixed filter type: e.g., Model 12D-Z, etc.

B. Hood Type

  • Portable filter type: e.g., Model M5-Y, etc.
  • Fixed filter type: e.g., Model S1-Z, etc.

C. Face Shield Type

  • Fixed filter type: e.g., Model AFP-1.

Ambient Air Suction or Blowing

No air compressor required
Hose Mask

The system is divided into 2 main groups:

1. Electric Blower Type

  • Features/Applications: Used for repairing plant equipment, working in manholes, pits, etc.
  • Style: Facepiece Type.
  • Example: Model SHV-105, etc.

2. Lung Power Suction Type

  • Features/Applications: Used for tasks where a suitable breathing air source can be reached within a 10m range.
  • Style: Facepiece Type.
  • Example: Model 1 H-C, etc.

DANGER

  • Half-face masks, hoods, face shields, and lung power suction types (both full and half-face) MUST NOT be used in cases of short-term exposure to toxic substances that are immediately dangerous to life or health.
  • Individuals with beards, sideburns, or bangs that interfere with the face seal, or with mustaches or chin hair that hinder the exhalation valve operation, MUST NOT use facepiece-type supplied-air respirators.

Pressure Demand Type Airline Mask

The pressure demand type maintains positive pressure inside the mask even during inhalation, which makes it difficult for outside air to enter even if a gap occurs at the face seal.

[Specifications]

  • Minimum required air volume: 115 L/min
  • Maximum hose length: 100 M

[Safety Warnings] ⚠ DANGER: Always check the supplied air volume.

[Additional Features] Whistle (Warning Device): In the event that the supply pressure drops to the level of 0.30 ~ 0.35 MPa, a warning sound will be emitted from the air whistle.

Sakai Type – Model 17 HV-ZW (With warning whistle)

(Stationary filtration type) Complies with JIS T 8153:2002 standard
Assigned Protection Factor: 1000

Cartridge not included
Suitable for use in oxygen-deficient environments

DANGER Must not be used when toxic substance concentrations are at IDLH (Immediately Dangerous to Life or Health) levels.

(Air supply valve cover is an optional accessory)

Model 17 HV-Z is also available without a whistle (warning device).

Personal warning devices (with whistle) and Emergency air supply warning devices (automatic backup unit) are effective equipment.

3. Addressing hose blockages, etc.

  • It is crucial to install warning devices to notify workers when the air supply is interrupted. For supplied-air respirators with facepieces, using a model equipped with a personal warning device (to notify the wearer when the internal mask pressure drops) is an effective measure to help workers evacuate quickly.

  • Furthermore, in hazardous environments such as IDLH (Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health) atmospheres, to promptly respond if the air supply stops, the use of the following is recommended:

    • Combined Airline Mask: A type equipped with a small built-in compressed air cylinder.

    • Airline mask connected to an emergency air supply switching warning device: A type capable of automatically switching the air source.

※For detailed contents of the notification, please be sure to check the original document.

Personal equipment such as safety clothing, helmets, workwear, gloves, etc., shown in the wearing illustration are not included with the product.
