Samarium-Cobalt Magnets

Temperature Characteristics

  • Samarium-cobalt magnets show low thermal demagnetization, second only to Alnico magnets.
  • In high-temperature environments, they provide a more compact solution than ferrite magnets when applications require strong magnetic force.
  • At temperatures of around 300°C, they generally recover most of their original magnetic force after returning to room temperature.

Advantages

  • Samarium-cobalt magnets offer the second-highest magnetic energy product after neodymium magnets.
  • In addition, they provide excellent temperature characteristics, making them well suited for relatively high-temperature applications.
  • They also offer strong corrosion resistance, so they normally do not require surface treatment.
  • Furthermore, manufacturers can produce them in custom shapes to suit specific applications.

Disadvantages

  • Because the raw materials are expensive, samarium-cobalt magnets generally cost more than other types of magnets.
  • Moreover, they have relatively low mechanical strength, so they can crack or chip easily.

Magnetization Method

※ Special magnetization methods may require an additional magnetizing yoke fee (initial cost).

About SI and CGS Units

“SI” refers to the International System of Units (Système International d’Unités). This system internationally standardized the many different units that had previously caused confusion.

Today, SI serves as a common worldwide and rational system of measurement. However, the traditional CGS system also remains widely used. Therefore, both unit systems continue to appear in practical applications.

  • Dimensional tolerances depend on the dimensions and shape, but they are generally approximately ±0.1 to ±0.2. Higher accuracy is also available, so please specify your requirements when necessary.
  • We also welcome orders for special or custom-made products. Please feel free to contact us regarding small-lot production.

※ Please contact us for current stock availability.
※ We also stock many products other than the standard specifications.
※ Depending on the dimensions, some products may require a longer lead time.
