Making Passenger and Freight Vessels Safer and More Comfortable

Large marine vessels transport goods and people across the world’s oceans. To ensure safety, reduce labor and fuel usage, and minimize environmental impacts, operators must implement various optimization measures. Nabtesco aids by supplying main engine remote control systems for medium to large vessels and offering system engineering services.

For diesel engines, a core ship component, we swiftly meet the growing demand for electronically controlled engine systems, set to become mainstream. We also fulfill the demand for mechanical engine control systems, pursuing the development of environmentally friendly technologies. Nabtesco, with MRO offices worldwide, enhances vessel safety and optimizes navigation through extensive expertise and a comprehensive global after-sales service system.

Nabtesco holds about a 50% share in the domestic market and around a 40% share in the global market for engine remote control systems for vessels (estimates by Nabtesco).

Social Value Provided by the Business

We supply safe, reliable, and eco-friendly marine equipment, enabling low-impact transport of goods and people. Our equipment helps reduce the environmental impact of vessels and ensures their safe navigation and stable maritime transportation.

We focus on technological reforms to support smart ship manufacturing, decarbonization, and the healthy development of the shipbuilding and marine equipment industries.

Main Products

Main Engine Remote-Control System (M-800-VII)

This system enables remote control of the vessel’s diesel engine from the ship’s bridge and/or control room, and has functions for outputting commands to control the engine speed (rpm) and for monitoring engine status. Equipped with advanced network functions and a liquid-crystal display, the system provides outstanding operability and expandability.

Electronically controlled hydraulic valves

Each diesel engine cylinder is equipped with one electronically controlled hydraulic valve, which electronically controls the timing and amount of fuel injection and the timing at which the exhaust valve opens and closes. The valve contributes to higher fuel economy and is attracting much attention as an environmentally friendly component.

GAP sensors
Nabtesco

GAP sensors monitor the behavior of engine fuel injection pumps and exhaust valves. The sensor issues an alarm when an abnormality is detected, thereby increasing the reliability of electronic diesel engine control systems.
