The FA type (see photo) consists of a general-purpose metal slit plate inlaid with a special solid antifriction agent, which serves as the best antifriction agent for the slit plate. The antifriction agent adsorbs to the contact surface and forms a microscopic film, creating a very smooth surface that reduces resistance to friction and improves current flow, preventing frequent sparks and extending the life of the slit plate and trolley wire.
