EIKOH Various Heat-resistant Glass
Made in Japan
Manufacturer: Eikoh Co., Ltd.
Various glass materials have various properties obtained by adding other materials to SiO2.
Although it depends on the material, “tempered glass” that has improved mechanical strength using heat or chemicals is also widely used in smartphones and tablet devices. Materials with heat resistance in particular are used for a variety of purposes.
Heat-resistant materials
Neoceram® NO
Table: Neoceram® is a heat-resistant glass-ceramic made by melting and molding a specially-formed glass containing crystal nucleation agents such as NO-zirconia, and then heat-treating it to precipitate microcrystals. It
has excellent heat resistance, with a maximum operating temperature of 700°C.
Tempax®
Tempax float offers a smaller coefficient of thermal expansion compared to general soda glass, with a maximum use temperature of 500°C and a normal use temperature of 450°C for long-term use (10 hours or more). It excels in heat resistance and thermal shock resistance. Additionally, the float manufacturing method finishes both sides to a flat and smooth surface, ensuring high light transmittance and excellent optical quality without optical distortion.
We manufacture Tempax from raw materials prone to inhomogeneity, such as bubbles and fine streaks, which are difficult to melt. However, we strive to remove these inhomogeneities as much as possible through strict quality control. Although very small amounts of inhomogeneity may mix into the product, they do not affect the characteristics or functions of the glass.
Tempered glass
Wind-chilling reinforcement
The molded glass is heated and cooled to generate compressive forces on the surface and tensile forces inside, strengthening it.
After strengthening, it has approximately three times the strength of regular glass.
Chemical Strengthening
This glass is immersed in molten salt and the surface of the glass is ion-exchanged to form a compressed layer, which gives it more than five times the strength of regular glass.
Upon request, we can order and process various types of glass, including Pyrex and Tempax.
