ISHIKAWA Expanded Metal and Processed Products Wire Mesh

Made in Japan
Manufacturer: ISHIKAWA WIRE NETTING Co., Ltd.

Expanding a metal sheet and making staggered cuts with a blade creates expanded metal, a type of wire mesh.

Unlike wire mesh, which is made by weaving wire, expanded metal is made of diamond-shaped mesh fixed with a bond, which gives it strong tensile strength at each angle and unique shape and properties. You can use it for fences, passageways such as catwalks in factories, ventilation windows, cable racks, and construction and civil engineering materials .

Expanded metal is available in grating and standard types (iron and zinc-plated) based on JIS standards, as well as stainless steel and aluminum materials that meet JIS-compatible standards. In recent years, expanded metal has become widely used as an interior and exterior construction material. Ishikawa Wire Netting has a long delivery record and will make suggestions to suit your needs.

■Mesh The
diamond-shaped mesh that characterizes expanded metal is the mesh. The center-to-center distance in the short direction is SW, and the center-to-center distance in the long direction is LW.
■Strand
The lines that make up expanded metal are the strands. The cross section of the strands is rectangular, which helps prevent slipping when used in passageways. The strand thickness is T, and the strand width is W.
■Bond
The bond is the joint between the strands.
■Product dimensions
In the standard product dimensions of expanded metal, the dimension direction S = an integer multiple of the mesh dimension SW. Also, the dimension direction L = an integer multiple of the mesh dimension LW/2.

As shown in the diagram on the right, the mesh direction of expanded metal changes depending on the difference in the lengths of the dimensions L and S. We describe it as dimension L x dimension S, so when dimension S is shorter than dimension L it is an abacus pattern , and when dimension S is longer than dimension L it is a tatami pattern .

Expanded Metal Specification Table

We usually indicate the thickness of expanded metal as the strand thickness (T). However, during manufacturing, stretching the sheet while making cuts changes the overall thickness. We indicate the overall thickness as the total pressure. For more information, please see the Expanded List.
