KONAN SAF100-5 Explosion-proof Insulation Barrier (Safety Barrier)
Product Made In Japan
Manufacturer: KONAN ELECTRIC
Model: SAF100-5
The intrinsic safety explosion-proof barrier is a one-channel explosion-proof device of Zener diode type for direct-current use, for passing electrical signals in both
directions without short-circuiting, while limiting the energy transmission to a degree not ignite the explosive atmosphere.

Caution
1. Safety holding rating
- Devices connected to the explosion-proof barrier in the non-hazardous area must not have components in their voltage wires that exceed 250 V (RMS) or 250 V (DC) in ground potential, either in normal operation or in the event of an accident.
If power originates from the main bus, a double-winding transformer must provide insulation from the main bus, and a fuse with the appropriate interrupting capacity (rating) must protect the primary winding.
2. Inductance and capacitance of external wiring
- The inductance and capacitance of the wiring limit the wiring length (between barrier and solenoid valve). General parameters are as follows.
- Supposing the capacitance: is 100 pF/m, the maximum length is 500 m.
- Supposing the inductance: is 25 µH/m, the resistance value is 80 Ω approximately.
- When the DC resistance value is 40 Ω/km, it is 80 Ω or less in both directions. The maximum length is 1000 m.
3. General handling of explosion-proof barrier
- Refer to the general handling cautions of Intrinsic safety solenoid valves and explosion-proof barriers mentioned on page D-4.
[When selecting other explosion-proof barriers]
- KONAN Intrinsic safety solenoid valves [454], [414], and [416] series are approved by the device verification of intrinsic safety explosion-proof of the solenoid valve body. They can be used also in combination with the barrier satisfying the following conditions. (It is also possible to combine with the insulation barrier not requiring class A grounding.)
- However, limited only to barriers approved by device verification as a single body, and satisfying the following conditions.
