Features of the aluminum alloy superstructure
- Lightweight
- When aluminum alloy is used, its specific gravity is about 1/3 that of iron, so even taking into account its strength, the superstructure can be made to weigh less than half that of iron.
- Increased stability
- Reducing the weight on the top lowers the center of gravity, increases the GM, and increases the stability (restoring force) of the ship.
- Non-magnetic
- Because aluminum is not magnetic, it increases the sensitivity of marine instruments, reduces errors, and ensures stable navigation.
- High corrosion resistance
- Because it uses a corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy, it has excellent corrosion resistance even against seawater, helping to reduce the labor required for rust removal and painting.
