This is an internal thread gate valve used on ships. Because the inside of a ship is narrow and space is limited, it is designed so that the valve stem does not rise like an external thread gate valve. The wedge-shaped valve body moves up and down to stop the water flow. It is also one of the valves with very little pressure loss. It is called a gate valve because it partitions the flow path.
