Enhancing Safety Technologies in Line with the Increasing Speeds of Rail Transportation

The Shinkansen, a world-class high-speed railway system, exemplifies Japanese expertise, with trains exceeding 300 km/h requiring top-notch safety and reliability. Nabtesco contributes to this with our Shinkansen brake systems and door operating units, core components ensuring safety and performance. Our advanced technologies are used in various transportation systems in Japan and abroad, including local trains and new transit systems.

As train speeds increase, railway operators aim to reduce equipment size and weight for more cabin space and environmental benefits. Nabtesco develops technologies to advance rail transportation, holding about 50% of Japan’s brake system market and 60% for door operating units, including all Series N700 Shinkansen carriages.

Social Value Provided by the Business

By providing highly safe and reliable products, we contribute to railroad transportation systems running safely and on time.

Optimizing railroad transportation helps to reduce traffic congestion as well as CO2 emissions from automobiles.
