Features of Fey Thin Labyrinth Rings

Fey thin labyrinth rings are used to prevent grease leakage from bearings and to block the intrusion of dust, water, and debris. Multiple closely positioned rings have one end that contacts the housing or shaft, while the other end creates labyrinth grooves within the holder groove. Therefore, this seal must always be installed within the holder groove. The holder can be made of steel, cast iron, plastic, etc., and the rings are installed within this groove with minimal radial and axial clearance.

1. High Labyrinth Effect

Fey

The Fey labyrinth rings have a high labyrinth effect. The seal clearance is less than about 1/5 of traditional designs, maintaining a non-contact, minimal clearance with a grease film.

2. Low seal height allows for compact design

Fey

As shown in the figure, it can be installed in an extremely small space compared to an oil seal installation space.
It can also prevent damage to the seal lip caused by foreign matter.

3. Excellent sealing performance even at high speeds

Used in the main shafts of machine tools, it is effective in preventing the intrusion of cutting fluid, chips, etc. It is also
used as a seal to prevent the intrusion of dust and water in the axles of railway cars such as ICE in Europe and in the continuous casting lines of steel manufacturers.

4. Elastic and long-lasting (material)

Spring steel (allowable temperature 300°C) “C75S (DIN 1.0605)” and “C60E (DIN 1.1221)” are available as standard materials, as well as stainless steel (allowable temperature 450°C) “CrNi (DIN 1.4310). The
color of the labyrinth ring surface may differ due to heat treatment, surface treatment, and rust prevention treatment, but this does not affect its use.

5. Easy to install

As shown on page 8 of the catalog below, no complicated procedures or tools are required for installation.

*When using Fey thin labyrinth rings, we recommend that you conduct a test in advance to confirm the sealing performance.
