Orientalmotor MSC-1 AC Speed Controller
Made in Japan
Manufacturer: ORIENTAL MOTOR CO., LTD.
Model: MSC-1
Compact Equipment Design Made Possible Through Efforts to Downsize
This speed controller saves installation space with its compact design, making it more efficient and convenient to use.
Volume is 45 % less than that of a conventional speed controller, and 70 % less than that of a commonly used inverter.
You can mount the MSC-1 directly to a 35 mm wide DIN rail, making installation straightforward and efficient.
Speed Controller Performance
Allows for Stable Speed Control
The MSC-1 uses closed loop control, which results in a smaller drops in speed due to load fluctuations compared to inverters with open loop control.
Use of CPU control for the control circuit has improved speed regulation (versus load) compared to conventional speed controllers. This allows for more stable speed control.
Difference in Speed Change Between MSC-1 and a Commonly Used Inverter
Controller Generates Less Noise
Inverters control the rotation speed of the motor by controlling the magnitude and frequency of the voltage supplied to the motor using the PWM control method.
The speed controller controls motor rotation speed by controlling the magnitude of the voltage supplied to the motor using the phase control method. The phase control method generates less noise since it turns the supply voltage ON and OFF less frequently compared to an inverter.

Versatile Voltage Compatibility for Global Use
Compatible With Single-Phase 100~230 VAC Voltage Specifications
Compatible with multiple voltages from single-phase 100 to 230 VAC, the MSC-1 can be used worldwide.*
Ensure you use a motor that matches the voltage specifications of your equipment while using the MSC-1 speed controller, which is designed for single-phase 100~230 VAC.
Capable of Controlling Motors With Output Power From 6 to 60 W
Compatible with speed control motors with output power from 6 W to 60 W.
Full Range of Operating Patterns
Equipped With Alarm Output Function
MSC-1 monitors the operating status of the motor.
When a heat generation abnormality occurs, such as a motor lock due to overload, the system outputs an alarm signal and stops the power supply to the motor (coasting stop). You can restart the motor by turning on the alarm reset input. Identify the alarm content by counting the LED blinks. The alarm content can be identified by the LED blink count.
Speed Output Function
Outputs a signal of 12 pulses per motor revolution, synchronous with motor operation.
Rotation speed can be calculated from the frequency of this signal.
