Sika SC-MS2NB Architectural Sealant 2-Component Modified Silicone Type

Product Made In Japan
Manufacturer: Sika
Model: SC-MS2NB

This modified silicone sealant hardens chemically, reacting between its base material and hardening agent, and features a low-modulus, low tensile stress design. It cures into a form with outstanding weather resistance, durability, and dynamic followability, striking an ideal balance in sealant performance. Additionally, its excellent stain resistance and strong adhesion to paint ensure prolonged aesthetic preservation of buildings.

The combined ratio refers to the ratio of masses. A “1” in test results signifies non-compliance, while “NF” denotes no damage. The Type 1 tensile adhesion test follows JIS A1439 standards. “After heating” denotes the pressure heating temperature in the durability test, set at 80℃ for products not classified for durability. These results are indicative values.

To fully harness the performance of Hamatite, meticulous application is necessary.

Before construction, hold a pre-construction meeting to discuss joint details like shape, dimensions, and secondary water drainage treatment. Select materials, primer, and ancillary materials, and create a manual for the construction procedure. Mix the base and hardener of two-component sealant materials, including the Color Master system, until no streaks remain, using a mixer with a hoop diameter of 229 mm and a mountain-shaped paddle designed for 4L cans. The mixing time should last about 15 minutes, alternating mixer rotation and scraping off material from can walls and blade parts with a spatula.

Before construction, inspect the site, joint shape, dimensions, and any unevenness, repairing any defects in the adherend, such as junk, chips, or cracks. Ensure the adherend is dry and clean the surface first with a dry cloth, then with a solvent-soaked cloth, choosing a solvent like methylcyclohexane or normal hexane if necessary.

Install suitable back-up material for the joint dimensions, using a bond breaker at the bottom for insufficient joint depth. Carefully apply masking tape, avoiding the adherend surface and using tape resistant to primer solvent. Load the mixed sealant into the caulking gun within its usable time, avoiding air bubbles. Select a nozzle fitting the joint width for sealant application, considering angle and speed, and promptly finish with a spatula for smooth pressing and finishing. Remove masking tape immediately after application and clean around the joint.

Finally, apply primer evenly with a brush, avoiding splatter and overflow, and ensure a specified drying time before filling the sealant material within the effective time after primer application. For effective performance, strictly follow the materials usage and construction procedure.

Handling Precautions

  1. When transferring material in and out of containers, ensure not to spill.
  2. Wear protective gloves and aprons during handling.
  3. Ensure adequate ventilation when working in confined spaces.
  4. Wear protective glasses and masks as needed depending on the work situation.
  5. Wash your hands and gargle thoroughly after handling.
  6. Avoid direct skin contact.
  7. Avoid contact with eyes.
  8. Do not inhale vapors.
  9. Do not ingest.
  10. Strictly refrain from smoking while using Hamatite.
  11. Do not touch until it has hardened and ensure it is properly cured.
  12. Entrust waste disposal to an industrial waste disposal contractor.

Emergency Measures

  1. If it gets on the skin, immediately wipe it off with a rag, and then wash thoroughly with plenty of water and soap.
  2. If itching or inflammation occurs, seek medical attention promptly.
  3. If it gets in the eyes, rinse thoroughly with clean water and seek immediate medical attention from an ophthalmologist.
  4. If inhaling vapors makes you feel unwell, move to a place with fresh air immediately.
  5. If you experience headaches or other abnormalities, seek medical attention promptly.
  6. If ingested, induce vomiting with plenty of water or milk and seek immediate medical attention.

Handling Location

  1. Do not use near open flames.
  2. Install local exhaust systems at the handling site.
  3. Keep out of reach of children.

Storage

  1. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, flames, humidity, and water.
  2. Use within the effective period.
  3. Use quickly after opening.

Prohibition of Use for Purposes Other Than Intended

This product is developed for construction purposes. Do not use it for any other purpose. *Note: Some Hamatite products listed in this catalog may be harmful or flammable. For detailed information, refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS).
