Features
The world’s first intrinsically safe, retrofit IoT/DX sensor product is explosion-proof (special hazard area Zone 0). This product is suitable for dial-type (round pointer type) pressure gauges, thermometers, and other instruments installed in explosion-proof areas. The main body and battery section are separated, each featuring an intrinsically safe explosion-proof structure, which allows battery replacement within an explosion-proof area.
Equipped with both Bluetooth 5.1 and LoRa communication functions, you can choose based on communication distance and data transmission frequency. Any type with a central axis pointer and replaceable gauge glass (removable front cover) is compatible. Digitalize the instrument by attaching a magnet to the pointer shaft and replacing the glass with a resin glass integrated sensor unit.
Users can easily install it themselves without requiring any adjustments if installed in the position described in the instruction manual. For static pressure gauges (no pressure fluctuations), installation is possible even while the equipment is operating (when pressurized), eliminating the need to stop the machine. No power supply or wiring work is required as it is powered by a dedicated lithium battery with wireless transmission via BLE and LoRa.
With low power consumption, the battery life is approximately 4 years when transmitting LaRa communications at hourly intervals (reference value derived from accelerated testing). This product can be installed on instruments with sizes φ60, φ75, φ100, φ125, φ150, φ200, and φ300. The functionality of conventional mechanical instruments is not compromised (minimal visibility of the pointer), but DX functionality has been added.
The product holds uniqueness with registered domestic and international patents, as well as patents under review.

The plate glass of an existing instrument can be replaced with the explosion-proof retrofit IoT sensor unit “Salta®-Ex” integrated with resin glass (Note 1), enabling the instrument to become IoT-enabled
(Note 1). Replacing the glass of a pressure gauge is considered a minor repair that can be replaced by the user under the Measurement Act.
The replacement of the dedicated lithium battery unit is an intrinsically safe explosion-proof structure, and it is possible to replace the battery in an explosion-proof area with Salta®-Ex still installed in the instrument. The
transparent resin glass can be made of acrylic, PVC, or polycarbonate depending on the application.

- You can try out DX right away by using the software “Desktop Salta®” included in the standard bundle!
- You can use it immediately with a computer or tablet equipped with Bluetooth and running Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit only).
- Bluetooth data reception is possible for multiple Salta® devices.
- Up to 10 instruments can be monitored on one screen. (The screen can be displayed by switching tabs for group settings.)
- It is possible to display the instrument name, measurement value, battery voltage value, BD address for Bluetooth identification, and battery remaining capacity icon.
- List display function: You can select between displaying gauge dials and graphs, and you can change the display position of the gauges by dragging and dropping them.
- Alert display function: By setting upper and lower thresholds, the color of the gauge on the list screen can be changed to any color depending on the threshold.
- Enlarged graph display function: Measurement data from any instrument can be displayed in a graph.
- Data logging function: Measurement data is saved in CSV format (tabular text file) on the PC/tablet’s hard disk, SSD, SD card, or other media.
- Report function: Saved data can be output for any period of time, allowing for secondary use such as detailed analysis and processing using spreadsheet software, etc.

Use Cases
System configuration example
- Patrol inspection and remote monitoring can be used together. (The reception standby time during patrol inspection depends on the transmission interval.)
- Even if patrol frequency decreases, monitoring accuracy improves, and automatic meter reading eliminates reading errors, saving labor.
- Automatic meter reading from a distance reduces the risk of inspection work on instruments at high places or in dark places.
- When the data transmitted from “Salta®-Ex” via BLE or LoRa reaches a non-explosion-proof area, it is relayed to a non-explosion-proof repeater or gateway, and in large explosion-proof areas, it can be relayed to an explosion-proof repeater, etc. , allowing long-distance communication.
- Cloud connection is possible via public wireless internet lines from a gateway equipped with a SIM card.
- It is possible to import data into a PLC and link with on-premise systems.
